The winding coastal road from Grand Baie, passing
by Péreybère will bring you to Cap Malheureux, a small
fishing village found on the Northern tip of the island, where life
starts at 4am for the fishermen.
From this vintage point, you have beautiful views of
the three islets: Flat Island, Round Island and Gunner's Quoin.
On site, this picturesque red-roofed chapel stands out from the
green grassy patch and the emerald blue of the sea as backdrop.
Cap Malheureux is worth a detour, not only for the
peaceful surroundings and simple life but more so because it has
been the landing site for the British troops as they seized the
island from the French in 1810.
